BIOGRAPHY:

Maritime-born artist, Lisa Lipton is a multidisciplinary artist and musician who received her B.F.A. from the NSCAD University in 2003, and M.F.A. from the University of Windsor in April 2006.  Her installations exemplify a diversity of interest within the arts combining sculpture, video, knitted costume, paint with performances that involve dance and music.  Lisa’s expertise as a multi-instrumentalist (violist, pianist, guitarist, drummer, etc.) and participation within the music industry - through her bands i see rowboats, IT KILLS, frankie & the CHICAGO BULLS and currently DOLPHINS, have come to inform her current exhibitions, collaborations, directorial and curatorial practice.  Some of her more recent projects, such as BLAST BEAST: Phase Two & the WINDOW BALLET Series, emphasize her multi-faceted talents, while at the same time locate a forum for the partnership and critique of multiple disciplines within the arts.  She has exhibited her work on both a national and international level, most notably within Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Windsor (AGW), the Banff Centre for the Arts, New York, Detroit, Texas, North Carolina, Berlin, and Amsterdam. Over the course of the last two years Lisa has been travelling across North America while participating in a series of residences with her new drumming project entitled BLAST BEATS.  Currently, she has just finished touring the U.S.A. with Phase Three of BLAST BEATS - on the road and is working out of Vancouver, BC for the month of June.
